Drain lines or perforated pipes run through the drainfield to distribute wastewater, which is naturally filtered by the gravel and soil.

If sludge gets out of the tank and flows into the drainfield, it can cause the pipes to clog, which may result in sewage backing up into your home or wastewater puddling at the surface of the drainfield.
