An important part of your home or business’ plumbing system is the septic system. It functions as an individual wastewater treatment system for your home. A properly working septic system takes the wastewater from your home or business, cleans it and returns it to the environment. When a septic system is experiencing issues, it can cause damage to your property and pose health risks to you, your family or employees.

What Does a Septic System Do?

Your septic system serves as a self-contained, highly efficient underground wastewater treatment system. For many customers, having a septic tank is more economical than a centralized sewer system. A septic system consists of two parts: a drainfield and septic tank.

The tank is made out of concrete or fiberglass and works like a watertight box. It treats water naturally by holding wastewater in the tank long enough for liquids and solids to separate. The drainfield is is buried one to three feet below the ground surface and is lined with gravel or coarse sand. Drain lines or perforated pipes run through the drainfield to distribute wastewater, which is naturally filtered by the gravel and soil.

Over time, scum and sludge can accumulate in the septic tank. If sludge gets out of the tank and flows into the drainfield, it can cause the pipes to clog, which may result in sewage backing up into your home or wastewater puddling at the surface of the drainfield. Regular septic pumping is an important preventive residential and commercial plumbing service. Call us today to learn more!

Providing Experienced, Courteous Septic Pumping

Our company has been providing reliable, professional septic services for three generations. Our staff is highly experienced and our owners perform jobs everyday to ensure quality. Like any other appliance or system in your home, regular maintenance and septic cleaning will keep your system running smoothly. There are many factors that determine how often you should have your septic system pumped. This includes how many people live in your household, how much wastewater your family or business generates, and if you have a garbage disposal.

Septic pumping removes the layer of sludge and scum which cannot be broken down by the natural bacteria in the tank. Our plumbing technicians have the skills and experience to locate your tank and determine what kind of tank you have. This ensures that it is properly cleaned and how often it needs to be cleaned. This process ensures you live or work in a clean, healthy environment.
